Making Money From the Commodities Boom

This article will try and explain why making money from the commodities boom is currently easier than trying to pick winning stocks from the troubled equity markets.

Over the last 12 months there has been a large amount of volatility in the equity markets with dramatic price falls prevailing. Stock investors have had a rough time trying to navigate their portfolios through these troubled times without making losses.
Much of the turmoil in the stock market can be directly contributed to the sub prime crisis and the subsequent credit crisis. The cost of borrowing for individuals and companies has risen dramatically recently putting huge pressure on companies profits. Some of the worst affected companies are unsurprisingly those in the finance industry.
The one shining sector during the recent turmoil in the financial markets has been the commodities sector. With huge demand for commodities from the booming economies of so called BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and constant demand elsewhere prices of oil, precious metals and agricultural products have risen sharply over the past few years and show no sign of slowing down. Thanks to oil prices pushing up the price of gasoline these facts are never far from us as they are repeated over and over on the news.
By gaining access to exposure in these markets you can invest in a rising market, as opposed to the erratic equity markets. Doing so should make it easier for you to return a good profit on your investment portfolio and potentially regain any losses from your stock positions.
